As we noted earlier, the lobbyist for Oregon Mortgage Brokers PAC spoke out on behalf of Rep. Matt Wingard’s (R-Wilsonville), a man who has been in the news for being convicted of hitting his young child over the head with a screwdriver (in addition to other charges of abuse.)
Political Action Committees (PACs) may sound complex, but basically they are just organizations that collect voluntary dues from their members that they then redistribute to the political candidates their organization decides to support.
Most of the time, donors to a PAC don’t know what specific candidates will receive financial contributions from their PAC; lobbyists and senior members of the organization usually make the decisions on which candidates the PAC will support.
I very much doubt that most of the donors to the Oregon Mortgage Brokers PAC have any earthly idea that some of their money was given to a man convicted of assaulting his 7-year-old son. In fact, I would bet that most of these donors would be enraged to learn that their money was used to support such a candidate!
That is why I have written an email to the top donors to this PAC to inform them of this donation. However, I can’t reach them all.
Please help me get the word out about what their organization, the Oregon Association of Mortgage Professionals, and their lobbyist, John McCully, is doing with their money.
This list of current donors was on the PAC’s website as members of the “49er Club”, as they give at least $49 a month to the Oregon Mortgage Brokers PAC.
If you know any of the folks on this list, please contact them TODAY and ask them to demand that their PAC un-endorse Rep. Matt Wingard and get the PAC’s contribution from Wingard returned, ASAP.
They can contact,Thomas Hendrickson, the president of the Oregon Association of Mortgage Professionals @ 503.221.0064.
